really? I'd have trouble looking into peoples' mouths. But yeah, there is a high demand for it. and it's really high-paying.

Never wanted to do medicine. It'll be chemical engineering/commerce for me.

"Crappy Doctors" would earn a considerable amount of money due to the effort in studies they would have to put in.

- help people
- get an ego boost...people would be like "OMG he's having a heart attack is anyone a doctor pl0x?" and I could respond "hell yeah"

I think I heard it from Sticky, apparently dentistry has the lowest job satisfaction.

I don't know. If you know you're going to enjoy it - go for it.

Maybe for you. But surely doing medicine can't be that bad due to the overload of people who have those degrees.

I am pretty interested in medicine so I think I will try to get into that course. The money isn't that important to me although its still a nice incentive I just want to help people (sounds so cliched).

But cadavers... don't search that up on google images btw

med is not about money, i'm interested in the medicine field not necessary just about "helping people"

For people interested in doing medicine, go to UWS - newest facilities possible. If you are interested in looking at dead bodies, getting drunk when you go up to Brisbane and learn songs that are somewhat disturbing, staying at the hospital in your Uni years from 8 to 8, and working a lot of overtime when you're just out of UNI... do medicine.

And if your CSS name is "Sexy Leek Plant" or insert w/e.

I'm not doing medicine regardless.

I agree about parents & Medicine. Like how many people is actually doing Med because they're geniuningly interested as opposed to parental pressure?

And nah I'm not into Medicine, even though cutting up hearts and eyes are quite fun. And I remember when Nishy cut himself while dissecting that heart.. a whole sinkful of blood *shudders* =S

I don't think our grade is very medicine orientated anyway, we have a huge variety of people who want to be different things, which is great. Then there's all this media attention to doctors and how many people there are to a doctor and all that stuff, so it's a very well publicised field.
You hear people all over the place saying stuff like (espicially parents) "Look at that! For a five minute checkup, that doctor got $200! I should have been a doctor. You young people have opportunities that I'll never have etc etc etc."

When it comes down to it, a lot of people feel that others are better off in comparison to them because they earn more or something. I hope that'll change in the future and people don't do things simply for the money.

I'll take a wedding photographer over a doctor anyday. Snap a few pictures in the short space of 6 days and BAM ! $3000 in the bag (and apparently that's considered cheap). And well.. most people will get married so business is booming.

My parents are like, if you don't like it, then don't do it.

Anyway, medicine would be the last thing I wanted to do.
And yes, I think to be a good doctor, you gotta be 'genuinely interested' and not forced. We don't want crappy, clumsy doctors around. (:
