Economics by far is much more fun (I believe) than Business Studies, however they are both great subjects that you really can't compare.

^Wait, how did you get your sig to work? Something dodgy is going on here hmmmm
Commerce is probably a good insight into these subjects, but I wouldn't know, because I do that other subject. From what I remember in year 8, they're both good, but I really don't fancy drawing graphs in extended responses for eco. In which subject do you learn about the share market etc?

I know for a fact that you learn about the share market in Economics in one chapter. I don't know about business studies but I assume so.

Eco and Business both complement each other well, so it's not a problem at all.
In fact, a lot of the stuff we learn in eco is applicable to stuff in business

Thai doesn't want to do any more eco related subjects cause he'll just keep getting 17/20 for every extended response.

Yeah, I reckon. I haven't improved one bit since commerce accelerated in year 9.

If you wanted to do commerce/arts, Business Studies would be good, as it gives you some background knowledge.

Yep
I do alright at the social sciences and the description of Business Studies sounds pretty interesting.
If you're interested in marketing, business is probably the way to go.
'The HSC course focuses on business management and the tasks involved in strategic planning, finance, and marketing.'

mmmm yeah Jimmy, 20/20 is allllriiighhtttt, I guess. ;D
Anthony, what exactly is young achievers? I've heard the term tossed around, but I never knew exactly what it was.
I'm now suddenly reminded of that thing where you get to design your own products in business, and market it to the younger grades. I kinda want to do that, it's like making what you want with a group of people, seems fun.
Also, anyone know if there are graphs involved in business? I still find the idea of drawing graphs in extended responses for eco quite a weird approach, and I don't like it.

One's oriented in comparing economies and involves all the stats of different countries (economics)
The other is pretty self-explanatory (business studies)

Which is better?
Bettyisonfire wrote:Which one is better ? Do you still learn about marketing and advertising in Economics?
So I was reading this aloud to my brother and he started gesticulating wildly.
He says that Business Studies is basically writing business plans for two years, and nothing there actually helped him in his marketing elective, which he's taking with an Economics course at UNSW. He's also ranting about a terrible syllabus and terrible examinations which you can only do well in if you invest a good chunk of your waking hours into memorising various textbooks.
He's class of '08, btw, so maybe things have changed?
But honestly, he's very against it. Apparently the entire class came to the conslusion that its repetitive, time consuming and boring as hell. It was so bad, the twenty odd students in the class got together the day after the HSC and burned all their books in like a massive bonfire.
